Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Bars

12 bar cookies
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3/4 cup creamy or chunky peanut butter
1/2 cup butter or margarine, room temperature
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 package (11 1/2 ounces) or 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a small mixing bowl combine flour and baking soda. In a large mixing bowl, beat sugars, peanut butter, and butter until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla extract. Gradually beat in prepared flour mixture. Stir in chunks. Press dough into ungreased 13" x 9" baking pan, distributing chunks evenly.
Bake for 18 to 20 minutes, or until center is done. Place on wire rack and cool completed in pan. After cool, cut into 12 bars.
